'Spoorpunten' is a different look on the service that the NS (Dutch railway company) offers. This concept offers a compensation 'Spoorpunten' (Dutch for Railpoints) for delayed train travelers. Both traveler and railway company benefit. Delayed travelers receive discount on products they can buy within the railway station. Part of the money paid for the product then goes to the railway company, which owns the shops.
Via co-design methods research was done on how travelers behave at the station, what they think, do and feel when there is a train delay. An important insight was that the frequent train traveler would like to get a compensation from NS when there is a train delay. This is when ‘Spoorpunten’ came to life.
The video gives a detailed example of what ‘Spoorpunten’ would look like and how it works.
